Etsy Profit Calculator

Adjust the inputs below. Results update as you type.

How it works

Enter price, expected fees, and costs to see net profit per sale. Fee schedules change; verify current Etsy seller handbook rates before locking a price. Pair with sales-tax and side-hustle tax tools when volume grows.

Input guidance

  • Confirm date/time/unit settings before comparing outputs.
  • If a task has optional fields, run both with and without them to understand impact.
  • Save scenario variants when making practical decisions.

The formula

Profit per unit = item price + shipping charged − materials − shipping cost − packaging − fees. Fees typically include a listing fee plus transaction and payment percentages on price plus shipping charged, plus any offsite-ads percent.

Worked example

A $35 item with $5 buyer shipping, $8 materials, $5 shipping cost, and $1 packaging leaves about $20 before fees; after listing, 6.5% transaction, and 3%+$0.25 payment fees, net profit is roughly $16–17 per sale.

More examples to test

  • Quick-pass example: run default assumptions for a first estimate.
  • Refined example: update one assumption at a time to isolate impact.

How to interpret results

Use outputs as operational estimates and pair them with local constraints, business rules, or provider requirements.

When this can be inaccurate

Utilities can miss local policy details, special-case rules, and environment-specific constraints.

Frequently asked questions

Which fees does this include?+

The default model uses Etsy’s listing fee, transaction fee on price plus shipping charged, payment processing, and an optional offsite-ads rate. Confirm current handbook rates before you lock pricing.

Should shipping charged match my cost?+

Ideally yes, or price the gap into the item. Undercharging shipping quietly erodes margin even when the sticker price looks fine.

When do offsite ads matter?+

If Etsy refers a sale through offsite ads, an extra percentage can apply. Model a rate only for the share of sales you expect from those channels.

Why are outputs slightly different from another tool?+

Different tools can use different rounding rules, default assumptions, and treatment of edge cases.

How can I improve estimate reliability?+

Use verified inputs from real records and re-run calculations after major assumption changes.
