How it works
Each course contributes (grade points × credit hours) to the numerator; the denominator is total credit hours. If your school uses a different scale, map grades to points accordingly before entering them.

The formula
GPA = Σ(grade points × credit hours) ÷ Σ credit hours. Letter grades map to points (A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0), weighted by each course's credits.
Worked example
An A (4.0) in a 3-credit course and a B (3.0) in a 4-credit course: (4×3 + 3×4) ÷ 7 = 24 ÷ 7 = 3.43 GPA.
