How it works
Weighted grade = Σ (score × weight) / Σ weights. For a target final grade, solve: required final = (target − current weighted avg × remaining weight) / final weight. Letter grade cutoffs vary by instructor—check your syllabus. GPA points: A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0; plus/minus grades shift by 0.3. Extra credit above 100% benefits only if the scale allows it.

The formula
Final grade = Σ(category score × category weight). Each component (exams, homework, projects) contributes its percentage weight to the total.
Worked example
Homework 90% (weight 30%), midterm 80% (30%), final 85% (40%): 0.9×30 + 0.8×30 + 0.85×40 = 85% overall.
